Hey,

My parents kindly got me a Adobe Photography bundle year subscription for Christmas so now having installed it, I have two issues:

I thought LR5 supported the real OSX Full Screen functionality natively and not just the same custom full screen functions as 4 did? I have been happily using the custom full screen features for ages now but certain parts of it are bugging me:

1. Not being able to slide my cursor to the left of the screen and for my dock to slide out

2. LR not creating it's own space when going into full screen (I do this manually, however a native integration would do this automatically.

My second issue is that whenever I grab hold of any of the adjustment sliders, the slider moves around 0.5 cm to the left of where the cursor is. It's seem to be a effect similar to those that can be implemted when using a touch screen and when you try to select text, the text magnifier appears away from where you are actually touching so you can see it but in LR, this is very annoying.

Any ideas on how I can solve either of these?

Thanks,
Neil

You can't fix the OS X Full Screen functionality, sorry.

I can't explain your 0.5cm movement though. Are you using a touchpad, or a graphics tablet, or a mouse, or...? Initial thought is a driver issue.

I had a Logitech M705 mouse, that would do similar things to various apps (never happened to LR) as the mouse was beginning to fail. Do you have another mouse to try? Plus make sure your drivers are up to date...

With respect to full screen, I personally much prefer the Adobe implementation to Apple's version of full screen... I suspect that Adobe will support Apple full screen in the next release.

The mouse issue on the sliders has seemed to have resolved itself after a restart of Lightroom. Ok on full screen. It is annoying but there we go. Is there any news on Lightroom 6 at all?

I for one do not believe there will be a LR 6. I think adobe will simply move it to the CC... BUT, opinions do indeed vary on that subject :)

I am glad the slider issue was resolved.

There will be an LR6, but no one who knows the timing can share it.

I hope you guys are right, but not holding my breath :)

Well they predicted Beta in Sep 2014. Since I have not seen the beta, I would assume they are not going to be right on the rest of the dates.

What I am hearing through the grapevine (take it for what you paid for it) is that 5.x will be the last stand alone version and that it will only be available via cc or the photography version of cc :(

I had also hoped that I could get away with using pixelmator as my editing tool, but it just lacks too many features, as much as I hate to say it looks like I will be signing up for the subscription model...

It's true they're really pushing the subscriptions, but Tom Hogarty staked his reputation on LR6 also being available as standalone.

Just a guess- and not even an educated one: we will be pushed towards subscriptions but not forced yet. I expect at least LR6 and perhaps LR7 before they´ll discontinue the stand alone version.

Well, I heard from an Elf (who we all know to be very clever & immortal beings) that Gandalf the White (a great wizard) has instructed Adobe to skip LR6 & go straight to LR7. Why you may ask? Apparently if LR6 does appear, as soon as LR6.6.6 is released then Sauron (the evil lord of Moria) will gain full control of Middle Earth and destroy all the Hobbits as one of them melted his ring!!
As I said I heard it from an Elf so it must be true, don't you think?

Probably just as believable as all the other predictions being made!

Personally, I'd listen to Victoria, she's never wrong on stuff like this (in fact she's rarely wrong about anything related to Lightroom).

I wonder if this is related to this issue from the community feedback site. There was a new post today which prompted me to have a play on the MBP and I could see sometimes a lot of movement when clicking on the slider pin on my MBP, which was amplified if I started messing around with the size of the panel. Seems to be an OSX-only issue.

Sounds like you guys are correct about there indeed being a LR 6

[h=2]Update on OS Support for Next Version of Lightroom[/h]We are hard at work on the next major release of Lightroom, and wanted to share some information on operating system requirements in order to give everyone time to prepare for the release.
In order to leverage the latest operating system features and technologies, Lightroom 6 will require Mac OS X 10.8 or above, or a 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Focusing our work on more modern operating systems and architectures allows us to spend more time adding functionality requested by users, including additional advanced imaging features and improving general application performance.
If you are on Mac OS X 10.7, or a 32 bit version of Windows, you will continue to be able to install and run Lightroom 5 and use Lightroom mobile. However, you will not be able to install Lightroom 6 until you upgrade to a supported operating system.
If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.7, Apple offers a free upgrade (here) to a more current operating system. For Windows users, Microsoft has a how-to reference (here) to help you determine whether you are running a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows.
