Lightroom Version Number
LR6
Operating System
  1. Windows 11
My old machine is sick, so I bought a new Win11 laptop (Dell 5515). Since I had upgraded from LR5 to LR6, I tried to repeat the process, first installing LR5 and then the upgrade.
I entered the serial number from the LR5 CD and have to go online where it is rejected as Adobe no longer supports the product. I do not want to have any Cloud based product as I am often away from internet and cell phone availability.
Does anyone have an idea on how I can get the standalone version of LR6 to work again?
All suggestions are appreciated .
Thank you.

First, You probably need to contact Adobe directly and get a download link to install LR6. You do not need LR5. Installing LR6 will ask for your LR6 upgrade license and your LR5 qualifying license. That should allow you to do a clean install. Then open your existing LR6 catalog file and make sure that your images have not been lost by the setup of a new computer.

LR6 is long out of support and not been updates in some time the last version should be 6.14. It was not designed for Win 11. There is no guarantee or expectation that LR6 will run on Win 11. There are probably people running LR6 that have upgraded to Win 11 that might be able to help if it is possible.

The current version of LR6 is now called Lightroom Classic v11. It does not require a cloud connection although it will require you to validate your license via the internet about every 90 days. It does require a subscription which is about $120USD per year.

Thank you,
"First, You probably need to contact Adobe directly" .. I have, by phone and mesage. Their reply is that it is no longer available - buy an online - all -the -time product.

You need to contact then and request a download link. As a licensed user, you are entitled to download the latest (last) copy. They stopped providing this link via the website and require a one on one link.
Call again ask to speak with a supervisor if you don’t get the right answer.

I hope you are successful with Adobe, but a couple of things to note. LR6 does "phone home" on occasion, something that LR5 did not do. And this verification is not that radically different from the "phoning home" that LR Classic does as well through their Creative Cloud app. It is machine-based, not cloud-based, and Adobe likes these programs to verify every so often. So, if you do not object to a subscription-based price structure, you can upgrade and get the latest version of LR Classic (v.11) as well as Photoshop and things like Portfolio at no additional charge.

Good luck,

Last I heard, there were issues with that too. Sounds like the legal department got a bit twitchy. But, LR6 is still available for download from https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-lightroom-6-cc-direct-download-links.html and if you have trouble activating, there's a staff member that's helping out here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/ligh...-versions-of-lightroom-6/m-p/12358851#M242916

Used the link shown in Light Queen's post above to download LR 6.14 without any difficulty. Have been using LR 6.14 successfully without any issues with any of LRs functions since last October. Did not need to contact Adobe for a download link nor approval.
