In addition to photography, I've got a larger than average collection of family photographs used for genealogy research that are in various stages of having Keywords added to them. I'd like to clarify what I think is true about Keywords and Synonyms if possible. Please feel free to confirm, deny, affirm or denounce any comments below. In "The Missing FAQ" starting on page 128 it talks about or mentions Synonyms over the next several pages.
I've been very good at keeping them consistent for names, etc, but am wondering if it would be more helpful in the long run to use "Synonyms" for some of the names of people as discussed on page 128. Currently my methodology has been to do this for female individuals:
Full maiden name such as: Anna Catharine Rumboldt
Then add a separate Keyword for her married name: Anna Catharine Scholder
Fine and dandy, I can find her by various names now. If I would simply add the married surname as a part of the primary Keyword -> Synonyms
I can search on "Anna Catharine Rumboldt" find the image or on "Anna Catharine Scholder" still finding the same image, is this correct? (Reducing the number of overall keywords which is a good thing.)
Or obviously any combination of "Rumboldt" and "Scholder" and find it as well?
I've looked at this and that seems to be the case. Just want to know if I'm missing anything as I will be "exporting" this as well. So in that case should I add the full married name instead of simply the surname? This would ensure that the full married name is also written out when exported?
Thanks for your indulgence for simple questions.
