No question to ask, just wanted to post to show a part of a mini project i've been working on for quite some time now.
I've had my personal website in the works for a very long time (10+ years) and I keep saying to myself it'll eventually go live but it never does because I keep updating editing, breaking, fixing it.
A major part of the site I'm actually quite proud of is the photo gallery. Please bear in mind before taking a look is the fact that I am NOT a good photographer. My photos are merely for documentation of my trips away and for memories. I'm not good at taking photos or editing them.
Now that's out of the way. I thought I'd just like to show others how I integrate Lightroom Classic, into the processes I have for adding photos to two parts of the site.
Firstly, the gallery. I use Lightroom to import, added to collections, quick edit, select some for publishing and then use the Publish functions to publish an album to Flickr which stores my photos online. I then wrote a fully custom photo gallery on my site with a full administration system that allows me to grab the photos from Flickr and display them on my site in nice nested Collections and Albums. The gallery can be found here: Gallery
The other part I use Lightroom for is the page listing all the Roller Coasters. Each time I ride a new coaster, a number of photos of it are imported to LR. I find the one I wish to use as its main photo on the site. I add two tags for it. One enables it to show in a Smart Collection, and the other tells me what type of object it is for (in this case a photo). I then add the name of the coaster as the Title and the park it was at as the Description. I then (potentially an incorrect use) use the headline meta field to add a text string that the website can use to find the associated file. Something like coaster-name-at-park-name-location.
The photo is then exported using an export preset and uploaded to a bucket on Backblazes excellent B2 storage service. The website will then use the coaster name in my database to construct a filename which it looks for on B2. Hopefully, it finds it and it shows up. It sounds like a complicated process but overall it works quite nicely.
Anyway, no questions or problems here, just wanted to show my use of Lightroom and the end result of a project. I've learnt a huge amount about Lightroom from the members on this forum and the help provided when I've posted here for help so just wanted to displays and present the result of all that help by posting this topic. I hope this is allowed!
