Hey gurus,

I'm using the User Comment field quite a bit to store different info about my photo scans.
However, when I want to edit an individual user comment in from one picture in a folder of 36 picture, LR is using a very annoying autofill / autocomplete feature.
Can I disable this anything thing?

Furthermore, I sometimes have a lot of data in the User Comment and its window in the Library model is cutting off the last few lines of the text.
Can this be changed or hacked somehow so that the field size is bigger?

Thanks

I don't know the size limit on the "user comment" window, but you may want to consider using the "Caption" field as it seems be bigger

Uncheck the option Catalog Settings > Metadata > Offer Suggestions From Recently Entered Values.

This bug has been around for a couple of years, but it seems to have gotten worse in LR 10. Please add details about your symptoms to this bug report in the official Adobe feedback forum:

Be sure to click Like and Follow at the bottom of the first post, which will make it a little more likely Adobe will prioritize a fix, and you'll be notified when the bug's status changes.

Hey
I'm using a software called AnalogExif to write some basic metdata on the Exif of my scanned filmed pictures.
Its built to store stuff like film stock, scanner used, lab used etc on the User Comment field...

I'm wondering, how good is Adobe at following such feedback from users? If its been around for a couple of years it doesn't seem they care much.

All of the text-entry fields in the Metadata panel expand automatically as you enter more text, so there's no advantage in using Caption. And unfortunately, the truncation bug can strike any of those fields.

Adobe is mediocre at this, not great, though it does appear they've gotten noticeably better in the last couple of years. The number of likes on a bug report and the quality of the feedback there (people explaining why a bug affects them) does influence Adobe in its prioritization, though it's far from the only factor. The earlier bug report had just a couple three likes, and the current one just two votes.

The old platform used until this fall for the forum had a prominent Me Too button that lots of people clicked; the new platform has a buried Like button that far fewer users notice and click. I know that the product manager in charge of the forum is aware of that and I'm guessing they'll likely adjust how they use the number of likes based on that. But nevertheless, I think Likes, Follows, and substantive feedback are still important in helping them prioritize.

This bug appears to have been exacerbated by the switch to Adobe's standard app fonts in LR 10. As a general rule, a software team is more likely to address a bug if it's recent. Once they let it sit for a while, it tends to get buried -- the engineers with knowledge of that corner of the app forget the details or leave the team, product managers start thinking, "well, if not that many people have complained about it, it can't be that important".

Hey, thanks into this insight.
