I have a mid 2017 imac 27 inches with 40 GB ram and 1tb Fusion drive with 40% free space. I have the latest version of LRClassic ver 9.4 . Startup of LR is too slow and then it takes time load images

I have optimised my catalog which resides in my system HDD and catalog size is 3gb with around 200k images

How do i get around this?

Thanks in advance

Can you really have 40GB of RAM not 32GB or 64GB? If you have mis matched DIMM banks that add up to 40GB then this may be your problem. If one is slower that the rest, you Beth the trough put of the slowest
What size and spec is each memory module and what order are they installed?

Remove the two 4GB modules and move the 2 32GB modules tot sloths 1 and 2 . Check to see if your performance does not improve. If it does, then add back the 4GB module in slots 3 &4 and see if the improved performance holds. If it does, then your computer can run the 40GB RAM.

You really need to report the type and speed of your modules. It should read something like this: 2 x 32GB 2666MHZ DDR4 SO-DIMM PC4-21300.
It is not advised to mismatch memory modules as you have done.
