catalog not opening

hello, i have a large catalog that will not open up. the message :
this lightroom catalog is corrupt and cannot be used or backed up until repaired. so i click repair and the message is:
lightroom encountered reading or writing from disk when attempting to repair.
the repair operation may succeed in future attempts.
try again check disk space and close all other programs.
can you help?
 
Can you just go to your most recent backup?
If not and you'd like us to look and see if we can help, send a zipped catalog via WeTransfer to [email protected]
We can then advise.
 
Hello, just happened the same to me. Backup disappeared. Is it possible to send zipped catalog too. Thank you

no backup for this catalog found either i should have wrote that in my info sorry. as for sending a zip file Im not sure how to do that . is it relatively easy? please advise.

Without knowing the Operating System you're using it's hard to say how to zip a file. But to use WeTransfer, just go onto their site www.wetransfer.com and use the free option to transfer to uploads@

well my os is windows 10 it is in the first post lr is 9.4 as for the zip file it let make a zip file but when i went to send it to the email addrss it said my file was too large and must be sent i think it was "google drive".
so i just tried to attach it here and it tells me its too large a file? now what?

Just drop the zip file on there and send.
 
ok did not know about using that site for transfer! just sent it . crossing fingers. thank you !

Mail clients and ISP servers are usually limited to 5MB file attachments. Sites like WeTransfer are set up to share large files that can’t be sent or received via email.

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do with that one.

It is a case of going to a backup in this type of situation.

after much searching i did find the back up for this catalog however im gtting more errors with lightroom and dont know what is going on or how to fix this. trying to send thru we transfer rn.

Unfortunately that's just like the other one - nothing at all to be done with it.
 
that was a back up of the first catalog that i could not find. you said to use back up , that is the back up zip?? and it cant be fixed? i guess i dont understand , thanks for trying
 
We said to send a previous backup, there was nothing that could be done with it (we tried)

With backups, it's good practice to keep several - many keep daily for a week, weekly for a month, the either monthly or quarterly, meaning there are opportunities to go back to find one that's happy.

well i wanted to touch base with you. IT IS FIXED. the back up zip file sent to you did work. the true problem it turns out was for some reason my catalogs were getting compressed. so i had to go and change the settings . opened up the zip after un compressing the catalog and booop all my pictures are back!! yay. im glad i didn't give up by hearing sorry cant be fixed. just wanted you to know of this problem so in the future maybe someone else may have this going on as well.
