Lightroom Version Number
Lightroom Classic 9.4 and LRCC 3.4
Operating System
  1. macOS 10.15 Catalina
I have migrated to LRCC and would now like to sync back to Classic. Is this possible?

When I quit Classic it says that it is still synching, but tno updated photos have appeared since the migration. The activity panel in the top left of Classic does not show any activity except for face and address lookup.

My objective is to have all raw files stored in the cloud and I now load all new photos into LRCC, but I would still like to have Classic as an option for editing on my desktop when I am at home.

There are two ways to get your Lightroom Classic image to Lightroom (formerly called LRCC) in the cloud. The first is to sync from the Collection panel. Those LrC collections will become Lightroom (cloudy) albums. The files sent will be proxy files (Smart DNGs) that are reduced size and smaller copies of the originals.
The second option involves installing Lightroom (Cloudy) one the same computer as LrClassic. When running the Lightroom (cloudy) app you have an option to migrate everything from your Lightroom Classic Catalog to your subscribes storage space in the cloud. This will send full size copies of your original image files to the cloud (You will probably need more than the 20GB storage plan to do this.

Once you install Lightroom (cloudy) any images that you import to Lightroom will be sync'd from the cloud down to Lightroom Classic.

Yes, it is possible....but with caveats. Adobe do not recommend you re-enable sync in the Classic catalog after migrating it to Lightroom, as the results (in Classic) can be unpredictable. Assuming you re-enable sync in the same catalog that you migrated, what happens in Classic likely depends on the sync status of the images in Classic before the migration. If every image in the catalog was synced before migration, there should be no problem when re-enabling sync after migration. Problems might occur, however, if not all images had been synced before the migration....in that situation after enabling sync after the migration, any images not previously synced may well be regarded as new imgaes to be downloaded into Classic from the cloud. However, Classic's duplicates detection should identify the "new" images as duplicates of existing images and in that situation it will add those "new" images as virtual copies of the originals. The VCs would be synced, the orignals would not be. You should notice that happening, however, as the total of All Photographs in Classic will increase beyond the total of images in All Photos in Lightroom (the All Photos total in Lightroom should be the same as All Synced Photographs in Classic).

You say that syncing is still happening in Classic, check the sync status (it's moved, no longer under the Activity Panel, click on the Cloud Icon at the top right-hand corner of the Library module in Classic).

I have been wanting to do the same thing for some time!
I haven't any photos in LR Classic as it's a new MacBook Pro and all my 55K photos are in LR Cloudy ( with local external HD backup).
I am using Topaz Denoise and Sharpen with really good results but it's really tortuous - editing in PS activating plugin then saving and closing in PS to get back to LR Cloudy. I am not using PS editing functionality at all!
So if I enabled Sync with LR Classic and it worked it would be a great advance.
If I did this I assume I should stick to importing my photos into LR cloudy ONLY, and let LR Classic sync in background and use the plugins from LR Classic if needed??
