I just bought Lightroom6 - FAQ and have started reading it. I have been using LR6 for almost a year now and I am comfortable with the developing module. I am stuck with fully understanding the import function. I can import my pictures ok and then develop them......BUT I know I'm not using the import function to the max. Shortly I will be posting a question to this forum.

Welcome to the forum. The import has a lot of options, but you should feel free to use what you need. Using its most basic functions, like importing the files into LR is perfectly fine. Adding metadata is useful if you need/want it, but it is not a requirement. Feel free to post your questions as they arise.

Welcome to this forum, from the other end of the USA. This forum has people from all over the US and many, many other countries. It's a great Lightroom resource. The best I have found anywhere in the web.

You may want to look at this from a different perspective. Instead of using Import to the max, are you using the Library Module to the max? I ask because I've only really started using the features of Library over the last couple of years. By focusing on what you can do with Library may show you what to do in your workflow during import and after in Library.
