General question - back up everytime exit LR. So, if/when one would need to restore from a back up-say a back up from a couple of days ago. I realize you would not have the edits etc that you recently did, what else? Thanks

You are backing up only the catalog file. The backup copy is Zipped, so it needs to be unzipped. In the folder where your master catalog is, you beed to replace the bad catalog file with the backup copy. The Backup copy was in a folder with the name of the date it was backed up. Making a note of that date, you will need to redo any thing added or changed to catalog file after that date. If you used and kept the "Make a second copy..." folders, you can re import any image files that are in those date named folders later than the date of the backup copy.

I want to underscore the point that the Lightroom backup is ONLY a copy of your catalog NOT your images. You also should have a system wide backup that backups all your user data including all the images in your archive.

Yes I do a system back up everyday. So I am curious because if you see my post regarding ! and conflicting metadata etc after the 9.2 update and using the merge function to merge two catalogs. It appears I have pictures LR can't locate but not ? on the left hand side in the folders. I see ! on the upper right of some of the photos where I didn't have that before the update.

Take a look at my post in your other thread

Do you also sync with the Adobe Cloud? If so there could be some sync issues. I haven't heard specifically about issues with sync when reverting to a B/U but I can certainly see how things might get muddled in certain circumstances.
