I've looked at various YouTube offerings with fair to excellent videos on designing and saving Develop presets, but so far I've not been able to find any of these videos for creating and saving Develop presets in Lightroom 6.14; the videos all seem aimed at Lightroom CC. Is it useful to experiment by assuming the video directions, except as they reflect the changing Development Module design in Lightroom CC contrasted with LR 6.14, would be functional for creation of these presets in LR 6.14?

Lightroom has changed names several times over the years, so it’s unclear what version you are talking about. When Lightroom 6.14 was the current version, there was a “Lightroom CC2015.14” which was basically same version as yours, except paid for by subscription. If those videos refer to this “Lightroom CC2015”, then they should be valid for your version too, except for some minor differences.

About two years ago, Lightroom CC2015 was upgraded to Lightroom Classic, and a new app called “Lightroom CC” was introduced. That is a very different app, and recently the “CC” was dropped from its name, so it’s now known simply as “Lightroom”. Videos about creating presets for this app won’t be very useful to you.

Lightroom Presets work to some degree on all versions. If you have an older version and there are features in the preset for the newer version, Lightroom will simply ignore them. If the Presets specifies a Process version AND your version of LR can use that process version, the Preset effect will work pretty much on your image as advertised.
I believe LR 6.14 recognizes all process versions up to Process version 3 and maybe Process version 4. The current process version is Process version 5.
I would not recommend paying money for a Develop Preset as there are plenty of free Presets that can render many develop effects.

Thanks for the tip on the post 6.14 Lightroom versions. It helped me to pin down the appropriate (and quite straightforward) Youtube video.
