G'day; it's been awhile so my old faithful Lr5 must be behaving. So glad I had it and didn't think I needed Lr6 or beyond
I usually set 'sort' to File name mostly, however Lr is switching to custom order or added order -- usually happens when I send a file to an external editor like Affinity Photo
Do you know of a magic button to stop that ? I know it's simply and I have likely done it before but ......................................... . (getting old)

thanks for reading -- cheers

Hi,
this behaviour did't change until and including the newest Version, e.g. moving photo from a child folder to the father folder.
Hannes
No --- I think what I'm doing is >dng >tiff>affinity>save back to Lr
Started this about 6 hours ago before trying find a "pattern" --- loaded and closed a lot of different files and Lr didn't change to custom sorting . That is until I wasn't looking or thinking about it and all of a sudden it was set custom sort (?????)

I guess it's too late to ask Adobe for an update

Hi.
perhaps i was unclear. The behaviour, which Jan.B mentioned, wss never corrected by Adobe and is also in the newest Version of LR observable, not only returning from other apps but also moving photos within LR.

Thanks for explaining . Seems a case of put up with it or go elsewhere . Not too much to match Lr on the market so i guess I will put up with it.
I'm am slowly getting a better photo filing system sorted for post Lr days .
After a massive stuff up by the computer fixer [and me] I have bigger dramas than mentioned above . The restore part was lost between the front desk and the work bench so I ended up with re-formatted computer . My mistake was thinking the Lr back ups were going onto an ext hard drive ---- YEP; one of those BIG O'**** moments!! Have been able to get much of it sorted from an older computer that I'm using now; but there are still lots of pics not connecting to Lr . I haven't even looked at the re-formatted machine --- only bought it so I could use On1 and I'm not using On1 now .

Sorry for the late reply. Been on the road. Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware of that.
