I am running an iMac late 2010 with os 10.13.6 I have been reluctant to upgrade to a subscription base system. So have been trying Olympus Workspace.
Regrettably I have formed the option that Lightroom is by far the better system for me. Currently on 6.14. So my questions are.
With on older iMac will I gain any really useful extra functions.( I am not a huge printer of pictures but its so simple in Lightroom)
If I stay with Non subscription, will I have a resonable product life in 6.14. I do understand that it will not be updated. Not sure if I am missing much.
I have no need for cloud storage.

If you can upgrade to the latest MacOS version Mojave, I would recommend it. The benefits of the subscription far exceed that of cloud based functions. With each update to Lightroom Classic, you get performance improvements and these are further enhanced with the improvements in the latest MacOS releases.
That said, You need a GPU that meets the current LR recommendations and you the best performance with a minimum of 16GB of RAM as well as a 4 core or better CPU.
How does your late 2010 machine measure up to those?
Eventually, LR6.14 will fall far enough behind that it would run on future Operating Systems.

An Alternative to Lightroom is On1 Photo RAW. You might want to consider On1 before you commit to a Lightroom Subscription.

My iMac is 2011 and same OS but I will be getting a new one this year. I like to keep up with security updates and in about a year High Sierra will stop getting them.

Yes the Print module is very good. I was on Luminous landscape and read how Jeff Schewe and that team worked to integrate the sharpening, etc with printing.

As for LR Classic CC or basically LR8 there were several changes that I like. The color profiles are now at the top in the Basic panel. The default color is now Adobe Color which is not as flat as Adobe Standard. The process version is now 5 and Adobe corrected blacks that looked like purple with high ISO shots.

You can now customize the Develop panels in the order you prefer to work in.

They improved the Auto feature in the Basic panel is called Sensie and is quite usable now. I always use it to get started and them edit as required.

There is a new build preview at import feature called Embedded and Sidecar. This lets you cull while the previews are being built so a time saver.

DeHaze has been added which is pretty handy however there are 3rd party ones available for older versions.

You can manage presets now by hiding ones you don't often use.

The default sharpening is now 40. That is not a big game changer but I suspect that and making the default color profile Adobe color more appealing to people testing it out. I seen a video that C1 Pro released boasting how much better their product looked "out of the box".

You can't with a 2010 machine. You can get it if your device is 2012 or newer. I'm running Mojave on my 2015 laptop. 10.13.6 was the last OS update for High Sierra.

Yes there is. I thought about for about a month before jumping in. I don't use cloud storage so I'm paying for 20GB I don't use however you get a free website called Portfolio that integrates with LR. You can download collections but they have to be in the cloud. I just downloaded onezies but using the cloud is more efficient.

Another factor was that I didn't have to use cloud storage. Not sure if you are aware but there are two products. LR Classic CC which is like 6.14 - a desktop product and you must store you files locally with an option to sync to the cloud if you want to. LR CC was introduced in 2017, is mobile based and all your files automatically go to the cloud. I never installed it but some like using both which is a little tricky . The image shows the list from the app manager. The list is getting so long I can't do a screen shot in one go anymore.

Also you might want to wade through this. LR7 starts there and you can work your way forward to the current version which is 8.2
