Hi,

I am hoping someone will have an answer about accessing the folders and catalog(s) which I created over the last years of using LR6. I signed up for LRCC but can't figure out an easy way to access all my photos without re-importing the folders into CC. And if I had to do that would I be able to see all my adjusted photos.

thank you,

NJG

When you open your new LR Classic you should be prompted to convert your LR6 catalog. If it doesn't then you have to manually open up your LR6 catalog (whilst in LR Classic - File > Open Catalog) and it should then prompt you to convert.

Hi,

That method does not seem to work. When I search for catalogs via file/open it locates some old catalogs from LR5 from 5 years ago, but nothing from LR 6 or 6.x. Any other ideas?

thanks for your response- I am hoping for another:).

Do you know the name of your Lightroom 6 catalog file? If you converted it from Lightroom 5, it could have retained the LR5 name and simply added a "-2" to the name. If you still have LR6, you can open your master catalog and find the name and location of the master catalog file. It is this file that you want to open in Lightroom CC Classic 8.2. Lightroom CC Classic 8.2 will then convert the contents to the new catalog structure.

Hi @NJG ,

I will assume that when you open Lightroom 6.x you are seeing the catalog and images that you want to be upgraded. If that is that is the case, then open the "Catalog Settings...". This is in the Lightroom menu on the Mac but I don't know the precise location on Windows. In the "General" tab you can see the path to the folder that contains your active catalog and below that the actual name of that catalog file.

This is the catalog file that you will want to open with LR8.2. When you do that LR 8.2 will update the catalog and create a new file with a new name as Cletus has described.

thank you all for the help. I did finally need Adobe to help me associate the old catalog with LR CC. For some reason we need to rename the drive on my exterior drive so that my new computer and new LR could recognize it. On my old computer the drive was F. When plugged into new computer it was calling it L. When the technician changed the drive name in the new computer to F, the catalog started working.
