LR Classic 6.10.1
Operating System
  1. Windows 7
The default File Safe Option on Bitdefender Internet Security 2018 can prevent Lr Classic 6.10.1 from working properly on Windows 7.

The symptoms are:

1. Bitdefender says it is blocking access to a protected directory by an application, LR. The Windows directory is catalog directory. You can add LR as an exception however..
2. When you try to open LR after adding the exception the catalog cannot be accessed because of an unknown error. If you try and create a new catalog you get an error you don't have access to the directory.

While this is an promising feature from Bitdefender, it is poorly implemented and in my opinon not enabled by default. You can disable it from Settings->Features in Bitdefender,

Thanks for sharing DS256. Antivirus and security software can cause all sorts of weird issues. Performance problems too.

No, it's taking an aggressive view of potential malware. (Do you want real malware to execute unstopped?) Here is a web page from the Bitdefender website that addresses your issue. I can no longer use an application

Phil, I had added LR as an exception. That's when it said it couldn't open the catalog and a new one couldn't be created. As soon as I turned off File Save, LR worked.

Can you also add an exception for the catalog files? You may need to file a support ticket with Bitdefender.
