Hi all
As it looks I left my external drive with my pics in a hotelroom and the staff " did not" find it!!
Luckely I have all pics twice backed up. The question is will the backup have all adjustments?
I thought I could open a pic that is on the missing drive, LR will tell me it cant find the file if I want to look for it myself, and point it to the identical file on the connected backup drive. Will this work??
All suggestions welcome

Guido

Yes, that will work. You may even be able to do it for an entire folder instead of a single image.

Let us know how you go, I am interested in this type of situation too and any lessons learned arising.

The one folder was easy to find and sync. I than looked for another pic and pointed to the main folder "my Pic.." wich contains 5+k images.
My 16gb ram iMac is busy since yesterday to "sync folder" and uses 15,7gb of its ram.

I'm afraid you are using the wrong method. I thought that you knew what you were doing because you talked about 'pointing it to the identical file on the backup', but now you are talking about synchronizing a folder. That is not correct, because that will most likely import all the images again (that is why it takes so long). What you should have done is right-click the folder and choose 'Find Missing Folder' (if Lightroom says the folder is missing) or 'Update Folder Location'. That takes just a few seconds...

Yes Johann you are right!! I should have told Ginger man. The initial pointing to the file was strait forward and easy.
With the Sync. I wanted to check for myself if and how many files are differ/missing on the back-up! I'm sorry for the confusion. As soon as it is done(did not think it would take THAT long) i will cancel the process NOT to import duplicates
