I wanted to make a photo book for a project at school, I exported it as a pdf and lost the original lightroom file. I now want to edit the pdf and add text/move around photos but I can't do that on Acrobat I need to export it back to Lightroom. Any suggestions on how?

Welcome to the forum. A PDF file is a single composite file of everything that went into making it. If you do not have the original image files, you will need to find some third party tool to extract the images from the PDF file and create individual JPEG files that you can import into LR and begin the Book process again.

What exactly did you lose?

Did you lose the original photos? If so, see the response from Cletus.
Were the photos backed up ? Do you still have them on a camera card?

Thanks Cletus! I googled how to extract JPEGs from PDF and all I had to do was export from PDF to JPEG with Max Quality. Thank you

Photoshop if you have it (and anyone with a LR CC subscription has a license) can open the individual images in PDF as images, during the open phase, just click the button to select images instead of pages.

Just for future reference for others, what really makes this work in Acrobat is you can choose Export PDF and then select Image as the document type. After you do that you have two more options to get the images out:
  • Select a file type. While JPEG is an option, TIFF and others are also available.
  • There's an Export All Images box, and if you select that, you get just the images from the PDF as individual files, without the rest of the page content (text, page white space, etc.) that you don't need in Lightroom.

Thanks for your feedback, this can come in handy
