Lens Profiles Missing after Lr Update

Hi first post here.
I have Lr6 on two different laptops I updated one and waited on the other one to make sure the update was worth it. I was doing work on a image and when I went under Lens Corrections Profile the lens I used wasn't there I looked at the same image on my other laptop and the lens was there. Laptop 1 has version 6.4 and shows just about every canon lens. Laptop 2 has version 6.6 and shows maybe 15 profiles not one is a lens I own.
I also noticed on the 6.4 version under Lens Corrections there are 4 tabs Basic Profile Color Manual on the 6.6 update it only has Profile and Manual tabs. On 6.4 set to default it automatically chooses Make Model and Profile on 6.6 it doesn't.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I would guess that on laptop 2 you were using a non-raw file such as a Jpeg. The vast majority of lens profiles supplied by Adobe are for Raw files only. There are, as you have seen, only a few profiles supplied for Jpegs.

A new Transform panel has been introduced which now includes some of the controls (Upright and Transform) which were in the Lens Corrections panel.

I wish it were that easy unfortunately all the images I looked at are RAW I double checked this and it wont show the profiles. I checked the lens profiles folder and all it shows is these few lenses with different camera bodes. I tried to reinstall off the disk but it no longer recognizes the activation code and forces me to download it which is version 6.6
Is there a way to revert back to version 6.4 when this worked.

I use Lightroom CC2015.6 and I still see dozens of lens profiles. The Lens Corrections have three fields: Make, Model, Profile. If Make is set to Canon, you should see all Canon lenses under Model. After you choose the lens, you will see specific lens profiles under Profile. If your camera is not listed, but another model with the same sensor size is listed, then simply choose that camera/lens profile. The camera doesn't matter as long as the sensor size is the same, so you can use a Canon EOS-1Ds lens profile also for an EOS-5 series camera, for example. Save this as new default, and Lightroom will automatically choose it from now on.

Can you create your own profiles for JPGs?

No matter what there are only the dozen or so profiles none of which are even close to the lens I'm using. They were there before the update and now they're gone I look at version 6.4 and when I go under Lens Corrections and check profile corrections set to default it automatically recognizes the camera,lens and profile on version 6.6 this doesn't work. They're not even present when I go to Adobe Lightroom Resources and check under LensProfiles they aren't present in 6.6 but are there in 6.4.

Can you confirm where exactly you are looking to see if the profiles have been installed? On Windows, they should be in Program Files>Adobe>Adobe Lightroom>Resources>LensProfiles>1.0>Canon. If that IS the place you're looking, and the profiles are not there (should be something like 145 in the Canon sub-folder), then it would point to an installation problem. In which case, uninstall Lightroom then re-install it.

I don't see why not, there are plenty pf Jpeg-only profiles listed in the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. You just have to be certain that the camera you're using doesn't already apply lens corrections when creating the Jpeg in camera.

Yes this is the place I'm looking and there were only the 15 profiles I looked on Laptop 1 and there were quite a few profiles there like you described.
So I uninstalled all Adobe products Lightroom 6, elements 10, and everything associated with them then I reinstalled Lr6 from my disk and the profiles are there just like on the other laptop the only thing is I'm now at version 6.0 I'm sure I cant go back to 6.4 and I'm not sure if I want to try to update it 6.6 again I don't think Ill have much use for the transform option anyway.

Updating to 6.6 shouldn't do anything to the profiles. Updating to 6.6 does not only split the Lens Corrections tab into Lens Corrections and Transform, all the updates from 6.0 to 6.6 dealt with bug fixes too (and actually added some lens profiles if I'm not mistaken). Those bugfixes alone are enough reason to update. Why don't you just backup those lens profiles so you can restore them manually if something would go wrong again?

I wouldn't have thought the update would have messed with something like lens profiles but when I look at the same raw image between the two laptops the one without the update shows them and the one with it didn't. I agree the bug fixes are a good reason to update.
How would I back up the files just copy the 1.0 file as a backup.

Jim,

I don't think my Nikon D3 applies lens corrections, but even if it did, I would assume that the Adobe tests would identify any remaining, uncorrected optical problems. If so, then the Lightroom lens profile would be additive to the camera's own corrections.

All sorted out it took having to uninstall the program and everything associated with it. And then I had some issues with plugins not working but as on now it appears to be working.
