It's a bug, which I've reported to Adobe. Hopefully it will get fixed in a future update.

Hi, Tried that and when I put in a card nothing happens so reverted to the string of 64 and back to square one:sad:
Thanks anyway will wait for Adobe to get off there rear ends!!

Did you follow the directions acurately? It worked for me and others. Did you check your prefernces in Lightroom to open when the card is inserted?
Did you reboot your computer?

Hi, I no Jim W is on the case for this bug but I thought I would try and find help from Adobe direct, MISTAKE!!
There website is a complete shambles there just not seem to be an Adobe point of contact, it all sends you somewhere else or tries to pass the buck by telling you to go to the forums.
For such a big company its customer service really seems to be AWOL.
As stated above JW is trying to get an answer to what obviously is a bug but I believe that request was made nearly a month ago.
Yes I have tried the options with the registry but without luck and why should we be required to alter the registry of a computer? From what I understand it is one place you should not tamper with I assume that is why it is so well hidden.
I have also been down the re-install route.
Now uninstalled L/R6 and working with L/R5.
Any chance of a refund from Adobe?

Hi. OK success at last

Used a program called Revo Uninstaller.
Re-Installed both L/R 5 & 6 then used RU to remove both including the option it gives to clear the registry.
Installed just L/R6 and tried the fix of changing registry values and the Auto Play options and it worked.
A long way down a short road

Russ, you need to understand the way that Adobe has typically worked in the past in relation to bug-fix and new camera support updates. I guess on average the "dot" releases appear at around three monthly intervals, although that can be shorter (or longer) if there are some critical bugs which need to be fixed. Occasionally there'll be a "double-dot' release (such as the 6.0.1 update) which are for special cases and follow no specific pattern.

With that in mind, it's possible that a 6.1 update might not be released for another couple of months, and even then there'll be no guarantee that this particular problem will be fixed in that update. Adobe will naturally need to prioritise their resources to ensure the more urgent/critical bugs are tackled first, and this particular problem is unlikely to be placed in that category. Irritating it may be to you, but the workaround simply involves a couple of additional mouse-clicks....so unless it's a quick and easy fix I wouldn't be surprised if it's classified as low priority.

If you seriously want a refund, you'll need to contact Customer Support. There's normally a 30-day refund policy with new versions, so check with them.
